While HARRISON ARMSTRONG was burning some rubbish in a clearing last week, the fire got the mastery, and burned up some ten cords of stove wood.

Thanks to SARAH IRONS of Albion, Ind., for compliments on the "Weekly".  One year's subscription with postage is $1.35.

The SECRIST family were in to the Photographer's last week, to have a group picture taken.  They are nine in number, seven brothers and two sisters;  aged from 41 to over 60 years.

A new street lamp has been erected in front of GURNEY's Hardware Store and BEACH's new Grocery;  also one in front of WADDEL's Drug Store, with lettered post, both of which add to the appearance of the street.

EUNIE SMITHE, having sold his house and nineteen acres of land to P. TEETER, has purchased forty acres from J.H. NEAR.

Mrs. TRUCKENMILLER will sell at public sale on Saturday, March 10th., 1877, one horse, harness, two vehicles, saddle, buffalo robe, wheelbarrow, furniture, books, etc.

Mr. SAMUEL SHAFER has had for some days quite a house full of guests.  But on Tuesday morning they all left for their homes.  Mrs. W.R. MARSHALL has the greatest distance to get to her home (Kansas).

SUDDEN DEATH -- NANCY DAUGHERTY, aged 19 years, a cousin of Mrs. A. GATTON, who has been making her home at said GATTON's for over a year, on Wednesday night last, about 1 or 2 o'clock, came to Mr. G's. bed-room floor and asked him to go for Mrs. WOLFORD.  He did so.  When Mrs. W. came, she was suffering very much, and said she believed she was poisoned;  said that one OLIVER HISKY had been with her;  that she had slept, and when she awoke she felt a gritty powder in her mouth and called for a drink, and that said HISKY gave her the drink.  Soon after which she took to vomiting and suffering intensely until about 9 o'clock, when she died.  Dr. I.S. SAMPSELL was called in the night.  Her father lives at Columbus, who was dispatched for.  Mrs. GATTON and Mrs. CLISE say she has been complaining for some time, has been troubled in mind very much, and threatened her life.  Had said that she and Mr. HISKY were married.  The Coroner was sent for, who will arrive on the 4:50 P.M. train.  Mr. HISKEY has been arrested, and is held in custody to await further developments.*

Mr. E. RUHL was arrested in Mansfield by Deputy Sheriff FLAHARTY, on last Saturday, and brought to this place on charge of forgery.  He was taken back to Mansfield and lodged in jail to await a hearing.  On Monday he was released on a writ of habeas corpus.  If reports are true there is more than one case against him.

WRITING SCHOOL.  Prof. HANNA, will close his present current term of writing school next Tuesday evening.  He has taught in all, five or six large classes in this place, and on each occasion has rendered entire satisfaction to all connected therewith.  The Prof. has fully demonstrated that he is not only a first-class penman, but also a superior teacher, and as he has always conducted himself as a gentleman while here, we take pleasure in recommending him to the favorable consideration of others within like services.

Dr. J.P. HENDERSON, of Newville, has a very valuable collection of Geological specimens, Indian relics, &c.  The Doctor has given many years of thought and study to the matter, and is well versed in the interesting branch of science.

G.C. BLANDORD left for Hayesville, O., yesterday.  he will be connected with the Union Nursery Company, of that place.  The proprietors, Messrs. T. BUSHNELL & Sons, have an extensive establishments;  among other matters a bearing vineyard of seventeen acres, a full line of fruit and ornamental trees, evergreens, flowers, &c.  The senior member of the firm is engaged in several other business enterprises.

Officer GRIFFITH, of Newark, and Deputy Sheriff FLAHARTY, of this place, arrested JOHN WILLIAMSON, (alias) JACOB WILLIAMSON, on last Tuesday, at A.B. LEEDY's, charged with stealing a horse from JACOB HARTSHORN, in Licking Co., in August last.  In case he should not be convicted there, he is wanted in Ashland County for same offense.

On Monday evening, DAVENPORT gave his entertainment in the new Grange Hall, which is not completed.  Some twenty or thirty boys got up into the third story and secreted themselves over the joice, and had a fair view of the whole performance.  They kept more quiet during the performance than boys usually do.  After the performance was over they thought it quite a joke and made up for the silence.

A barn belonging to Mrs. MARY E. SEIGLER, about six miles west of Johnsville, Morrow Co., was burned on Tuesday night.  The contents -- corn crib, oats, one horse, and one yearling calf were burned.  The barn was a large one.  A tenant had just moved in that day, had a lantern about the barn and left it burning there while he went to the house for some purpose.  When he returned the barn was on fire.

Dr. WADDELL was arrested and brought before Mayor REDDING, on a charge of selling liquor to MARCUS WALKER, to be used on or about the premises.  The trial was had on last Monday, with lawyer FINK for the prosecution and Hon. B. BURNS for the defendant.  After an examination, the defendant was released for lack of evidence to convict.  On the same day an affidavit was put in against A.C. VANDORN, for having given liquor to CHAS. BERRY, a minor, which was also dismissed for the same cause.

MARRIED, On the 22nd. inst. at the residence of the bride's mother in Bellville, at 7 o'clock, P.M., by Rev. GEO. W. WALKER, Mr. L.S. COMIN and Miss F.V. SARGENT.

MARRIED, On the same evening, by the same, at the residence of the bride's mother, Mr. I.W. HOWARD and Miss M.C. FLAHARTY.

MARRIED, Feb. 22nd., 1877, at the residence of the bride's father in Bellville by Rev. G.M. HEINDEL, Mr. A.W. WHITFORD and Miss EPLET A. SHAFER.

DIED, In Jefferson Township, Richland County, Ohio, February 22nd., 1877, CARRIE BELL, grand-daughter of GEORGE MONTIS, aged 3 years, 5 months and 2 days.  Funeral services conducted by Rev. H. FAUS.

DIED, February 23rd., 1877, a child of CYRUS LINSEY, aged 11 months and 10 days.

ASSIGNEE'S SALE.  On the 21st. day of March, A.D. 1877, at 2 o'clock P.M., upon the premises, I will sell at vendue, the following described real estate, situate in the county of Richland and state of Ohio, to-wit:  thirty acres of land more or less and bounded as follows:  beginning Seventy rods east of the south-west corner of land set off as a homestead of JOHN MORROW in the south part of section three in Jefferson Township in said county;  thence east on the south line of said section eighteen and six-tenth rods to the lane of DANIEL WALKER;  thence north along said line to the south-east corner of land of Mrs. PATTERSON about eighty-five rods;  thence west along said PATTERSON's land sixty rods;  thence north by said PATTERSON's land twenty-six and two-thirds rods to land of said WALKER;  thence west along said WALKER's south line about thirty-one rods to land of OTIS HOWARD;  thence south along the east line of said HOWARD and PETER MEASEL to the north line of said homestead, about sixty-four and three-fourth rods;  thence east along the north line of said homestead seventy rods;  thence south forty-five and three-fourths to the place of beginning.  Appraised at $1305.  Terms of sale -- one-half in hand, and one-half in one year from the day of sale, with interest, the payment to be secured by mortgage on the premises sold.  -- REUBEN EVARTS, Assignee of JOHN MORROW.  March 1st., 1877.
